Teachers leave them kids alone
"Teachers leave them kids alone ..." as most of you know are the lyrics of "Another brick in the wall" by the Pink Floyd and that's precisely the natural connection that my mind made after watching this amazing TED talk with Ben Saunders.
A school report of a 13 years old boy says: “Ben lacks sufficient impetus to achieve anything worthwhile.”

It happens that Ben, Ben Saunders in nearly 15 years has become the first man to have crossed the Arctic Ocean on foot (straight line from the Siberian coast to Canada), passing by the North Pole. In 2013 he collected a new impressive record: 93 years after the first historic explorations, he walked the distance from the coast of the Antarctica to the South Pole and he came back.
Too often teachers at any educational level feel empowered to judge the personal potential of their students.
I think the best answers to this frequent misjudgments are first of all the reactions that people like Ben (with so many other "simple unknown heroes") are capable of - "no you don't have any power on my potential!" - and the final big, natural, beautiful laugh at the end of the talk.
